Acorn class is our class for the Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 children.
The class is taught by Mrs Onions (Monday to Wednesday) and Mrs Canning (Thursday and Friday).
We also have four teaching assistants, Mrs Atkins, Mrs Potter, Mrs Reeve and Mrs Webb who work with the class every day, either supporting groups of children or supporting individual children.
Each term the children have a focus topic. The topic is then a focus for their learning. The topic for Autumn Term 2016 is People Who Help Us. We will begin by finding out about people who help us at home, in school and in the community. We are looking forward to having some special visitors - a vet, a nurse and a policeman amongst others. Later in the term we will be finding out about Superheroes.
There is an outdoor play area which is used by the children in Acorn class. We have a new Wendy house, which is currently a hospital. We also have a role play area inside, which is a doctor's sugery.
The children in Acorn class work hard on their phonic work through daily phonic sessions. The children are encouraged to read to an adult at school regularly and also at home.
We are fortunate to have regular parent support in Acorn class. If you are able to offer some time to play games or listen to children read, please see the class teachers.
