Our Successes

In May, during SATs, all of our children performed very well.  All Y1 children passed the phonics check; 83% of our core Y2 children scored at or above age related expectations in Reading, Writing and Maths; 80% of our Y6 children scored at or above age related expectations in Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar, Writing and Maths.  This is despite a new testing and assessment regime that is far more challenging than previously, and we are very proud of each of our pupils.

This year, we have spent time looking at our values, and what is important to us as a school.  We have updated our ethos statement and values, both of which can be found on the Our School tab under 'Mission Statement and Aims'.

The work of our PTA has been a huge success this year, with fabulous Christmas and Summer Fetes, a Street Party to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday and a Camping Weekend standing out as real highlights of the year.

In addition to this, we have begun to work on reinstating our school swimming pool, and a committed and enthusiastic committee has been set up to plan next steps.

This September, we are very pleased to announce that our school meals will now be cooked on site, and the children have been busy choosing their favourite menus.  Mrs Harvey is remaining with us as our own School Cook, rather than being borrowed each day from St Andrew's, Marks Tey!

We are also delighted that we will be running a Breakfast Club and After School Club from September.

This year, pupils have raised funds for Children in Need, St Helena's Hospice, Sports Relief, British Heart Foundation, Christian Aid and Colchester Foodbank.  We began to run the Golden Mile for Sports Relief and have kept going, with 2 pupils running 100 miles this term!
